Hello to all of you snowbound skaters! Come visit Mike and me in Carolina; we haven't had to put away out skates except for a few days this year. 'Course, we're missing out on the powder days many of you skiers/boarders are enjoying.

I also can't wait for warmer Skate weather but until then I'm training for the National Marathon in D. C. for March and do my FIRST Duathlon a the Nationals in Richmond in April. They need to do a triathlon with Skating, Running and Biking!!!!

Hi everyone. I know I can't wait till the roads near me are clear of sand and winter residue so I can "fly" on my wheels again.

yes, a sk8r I am! My knee is not currently cooperating due to a crash in late August, but I am due to have the loose screw removed in about a week....I'll be un screwed and hopefully back rolling soon.

Yeh, last time we got new skates I became real proficient at "returns!" Most good online sites allow returns but it makes it difficult and time consuming to shop this way. His current pair are K2 and fit well but are showing age. He has also had good luck with Solomon's. His first pair of skates, many years ago, were Rollar Blades but I am pretty sure they no longer supply the larger sizes. It is really funny to go into the sports stores in Kansas City(the closest metropolitan city) and ask the 12-14 year old clerks for size 14.5 or 15 skates. I will work on this project over the next couple of months and hopefully he will have new skates to go to Colorado with Zephyr this summer.

Hi Pat, a couple more things to think about as well. If Mike is a true 14.5 he may have a problem finding skates that fit unless you look for a used pair of older skates. Rollerblade only goes up to a 14 I believe, and they tend to run small. I bought a new pair last year and had to go up a half size. I would contact whatever place you want to do business with before ordering and ask about their return policy. You could get into a shipping cost that may not be worthwhile.

Pat, that could be a challenge. The main outlet out there that we have worked with is Inline Warehouse. They have good policies and a good history with our skaters. Plus, if you go to our Equipment page (http://www.zephyradventures.com/equipment.htm) and click on their link we'll get a commission for referring you! Obviously, that won't sway your purchasing decision. :)
